Does a paid trip to the Caribbean go along with that leave?

This is outrageous.

A racist e-mail distributed by one of Barrie's highest-ranking police officers has led to a major shake-up within the force. Insp. James Farrell has been put on leave after the offensive e-mail was sent to more than a dozen officers under his command.

An unidentified officer told a newspaper last week that the e-mail was slugged "Afrocentric Math for Toronto's new black-only school." It included math problems dealing criminal activity, such as firearms, drugs and gangs.

This racist prick should be no where near law enforcement, right? Report after report shows that in order to reduce crime, there has to be a sense of trust between law enforcement personnel and the public. Obviously, Farrell is detrimental to any police force, and the public should not be exposed to him even indirectly. A person with such blatant, vicious racist views cannot perform duties involving citizens in a fair and impartial fashion. Let’s see what major shake-up was done to get rid of this slime -

"Farrell had to move, there's no question around that," Barrie Police Chief Wayne Frechette said. Farrell, who had been in charge of criminal investigations, including professional standards, moved to operational support, Frechette said.

Operational support generally involves the rapid delivery of personnel to a scene, training, and public relations. What a fucking joke!

Frechette compared the shuffle to pulling off a Band-Aid quickly versus slowly. "I didn't want to see it drag on," he said. "The more quickly it's dealt with, the better."

I guess he wanted this to go away fast. But it won’t. The problem hasn’t been dealt with, just given new duties, duties that will still allow Farrell to abuse minorities and spread his diseased views. By simply moving him to functions where he still interacts with the public and influences staff, this department sends a clear message that racism is tolerated.

What? The RCMP aren't at all racist. I mean, they only stop me on the street at night when I'm walking home from work cause they want to chat, and then check the contents of my bag to see if there's a possible hole at the bottom. It's not like they have me standing on the street in the cold for twenty minutes while they're radioing somebody just to humiliate me - it's to show that they care.

what? No Starlight Tour?

My daughter gets pulled over all the time for "just a routine check, Mam." Probably just a coincidence that it usually the same cop just getting of his shift near the Reservation.
